Gimme 5: H-F's Werner Treated to Taste of Postseason Excitement
Sophomore Danielle Werner joins her older sister for Vikings' push in Class 4A softball playoffs.

Homewood-Flossmoor sophomore softball player Danielle Werner is living a dream. She was promoted to the Vikings' varsity ranks at the conclusion of the regular season.
Though she is new to the excitement of postseason play, she is basking in a surprising run by H-F to the regional title. The Vikings upset Stagg 4-1 on Saturday.
All the more enjoyable is the fact that her older sister, Marissa, is a catcher on the team.

"Everyone mistakes me for my sister," Danielle Werner said. "Sometimes, it is good (playing together) and sometimes it is bad. We argue sometimes, but it is good to have her on the team."
Danielle, a pitcher/first baseman/outfielder, started playing softball at the age of 4. And she hasn't stopped pushing through the years to improve her game. Her favorite baseball team is the Cubs, and her favorite player is Cubs left fielder Alfonso Soriano.
