Girls Soccer: H-F, Lewers Lower Boom on Marian Catholic

Homewood-Flossmoor 4, Marian Catholic 1: Scoring machine Lewers collects four goals to lead the Vikings on Senior Night.

It was fitting that Homewood-Flossmoor celebrated Senior Night during its girls soccer victory over Marian Catholic on Tuesday.

Senior Kelly Lewers scored all four of her team’s goals as the Vikings rolled to a 4-1 victory over the Spartans.

Lewers had three goals in the first half as the Vikings led 3-1 at intermission, and she closed out the scoring with another goal early in the second half.

"I am just trying to help out my team any way that I can," said Lewers, who now has 39 goals on the season. “It is sad that this is our last regular-season home game, but I am hoping we can go far (in the state tournament).”

"A lot of these seniors I have known since they were 10 years old," Vikings coach Charlie Ward said.  "I am going to miss them both on and off the field."
