H-F Shows a Little Football Razzle Dazzle

Vikings execute to perfection a play they had rehearsed in a 47-0 victory over Deerfield on Friday night. Antione Ward finds way to contribute to an explosive offense.

Homewood-Flossmoor's football team has outscored its first two opponents 123-6. The Viking offense has scored at will in victories over Chicago Senn and Deerfield.

And, now, H-F has scored with some razzle-dazzle, too.

The highlight of the first two runaway victories on the offensive side of the ball has to be the flea-flicker that Antione Ward threw to Sean Jones for a touchdown that gave the Vikings a 20-0 lead in the first half of their 47-0 win over Deerfield on Friday night.

"We had been practice that this whole week," H-F quarterback Tim Williams said. "When Buzz (coach Craig Buzea) put it in the playbook, we all got excited and made sure it was perfect on game day. And it looked pretty good."

Ward, the backup to Williams at quarterback, doesn't get much playing time. So, he made the most of his opportunity.

"It was great," Ward said. "I had that feeling where I contributed and was part of the team. I knew what I had to do and I did it."

The Vikings have been executing a lot of what they have practiced on offense during the first two games of the season. If they develop some more trickery, they will be close to unstoppable.
