Homewood-Flossmoor Football Standout Williams Shows He is Back From Basketball Injury

Tim Williams went down with an injury after a playoff loss last season. He bounced back in the Vikings' 76-6 victory over Chicago Senn on Friday, throwing a touchdown on H-F's first offensive play.

The Homewood-Flossmoor football team has high expectations for this season.

In order to meet those expectations, the Vikings are going to need a healthy Tim Williams at quarterback. He was injured in a pick-up basketball game the day after the Vikings' semifinal loss to Mount Carmel in the Class 8A football playoffs last season.

The injury, a dislocated right ankle, caused him to miss nearly the entire basketball season.

Though Williams looked great all summer playing both basketball and football, he had yet to see action in a football game. That changed in H-F's opener on Friday night.

Williams, wearing a brace, showed everyone that he is back and hoping to build on his outstanding junior year by leading the Vikings to a 76-6 victory over Chicago Senn. He completed all four of his passes, two for touchdowns, and finished with 68 yards to his credit via the airwaves.

Starting at Senn's 31, Williams found one of his favorite targets, tight end Willie Ross, and connected with him for a touchdown on H-F's first offensive play.

"I was trying not to think about it when I went out there," Williams said of his injury. "I knew we were going to go deep on the first play, and it was good to get that out of the way."

Williams threw for his second touchdown of the quarter when he hooked up with Gerald Butler moments later.

"We threw a few screen passes in there for him and he looked good," Vikings coach Craig Buzea said. "Tim is Tim. He is going to be consistent and make all of the right decisions. I wouldn't trade Tim Williams for anybody, that is for sure."

With a healthy Tim Williams, the sky is the limit for the Vikings.
