Homewood Man, 53, Found Dead Amid Homicide Investigation ID'd: Medical Examiner
The man was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound as police surrounded his home Monday night.
HOMEWOOD, IL — Officials have identified a man found dead as police surrounded his home amid a homicide investigation Monday night.
Developments in a homicide investigation led authorities to a residence in Homewood Monday evening, where a man inside was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has identified him as Carlos Jones, 53.
On June 6, Homewood woman Bianca Davis, 51, was found shot to death inside her home in the 2500 block of 175th Street. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

On Monday, the homicide investigation led Homewood police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force to a residence in the 17600 block of Dixie Highway. At approximately 6:10 p.m., a search warrant was executed at the residence by the South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT).
Officers made multiple announcements over the loudspeaker for anyone in the residence to step out with their hands up. Those announcements went unanswered, and entry was made into the house, police said.

Upon searching the house, officers located a man dead in a bedroom with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He has since been identified as Jones.
Police have not provided any additional information as of Tuesday morning.
