Live Results: Robin Kelly Projected Winner in Illinois' 2nd Congressional District Primary [Updated]
The Democratic incumbent beat 3 other party contenders Tuesday and will face Republican John Morrow in November.

Democratic incumbent Robin Kelly is the projected winner of Tuesday's primary to decide who from her party will face off in November against Republican challenger John Morrow for Illinois' 2nd Congressional District seat, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Tribune named Kelly, who has represented the 2nd District since 2013, the unofficial winner after she captured 73.8 percent of the vote with 394 of the district's 527 precincts reporting in. She defeated three other opponents to win the Democratic nomination:
- Marcus Lewis (16.3 percent)
- Dorian Myrickes (3.8 percent)
- Charles Rayburn (6.1 percent)
The 2nd District represents Chicago's south suburbs in areas of Cook, Will and Kankakee counties, including communities such as Homewood, Chicago Heights and Matteson.

Voters will get to choose between Kelly and Morrow, the only Republican to file for candidacy in the 2nd District, when they go to the polls during the Nov. 8 general election.

UPDATED (7:39 p.m. Tuesday, March 16): With 17 of 527 precincts reporting, Democratic incumbent Rep. Robin Kelly has an early lead to be her party's nominee to represent Illinois' 2nd Congressional District, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Kelly has 65 percent of the vote, followed by Marcus Lewis with 21.3 percent, Charles Rayburn with 7.1 percent, and Dorian Myrickes with 6.6 percent.

Democratic incumbent Rep. Robin Kelly faces off Tuesday against three other party candidates for a chance at being re-elected as the state's 2nd Congressional District representative in November.
Kelly, who has held the seat since 2013, is running against the following hopefuls in Tuesday's primary election:
On primary election day, Kelly used her Twitter feed to draw attention to local farmers and not local polling places.

The winner of the Democratic primary will go against Republican John Morrow, the only candidate from that party to file, in the general election.
The 2nd District represents Chicago's south suburbs in areas of Cook, Will and Kankakee counties, including communities such as Homewood, Chicago Heights and Matteson.
Illinois is an open-primary state, which means voters don't have to be registered with a party to participate. Polling places will be open until 7 p.m., and voters in line by that time can cast a ballot. Go to the website for the Illinois State Board of Elections for more information.
