Homewood's 12-year-old all-stars put on a clinic in a victory over Western Springs as fans and friends flocked to the ballpark to catch the action.
The Homewood 12-year-old all-stars made like a lumber company during an 11-0 victory over Western Springs in play at the Homewood Invitational Tournament.
Two runs scored in the first inning as Nick McAlister doubled and raced around the basepaths. Justin Correll, the Homewood shortstop, also scored.
In the third inning, Cody Plebanski stole second and scored on an error. Meanwhile, Homewood pitcher Jack Doyle was cruising along. He struck out 10.

Homewood put the game away in the fifth on a walk-off home run by Augie Schlaffer Jr.
"The kids are playing great," Homewood coach Augie Schlaffer said. "They keep scoring, (keep) hitting. "

The Homewood 12-year-old team was scheduled to leave Thursday for the Cal Ripken state tournament.
