Two Students Booted from H-F High School after Violating Residency Policy
H-F stands by its residency regulations, and strictly enforces them.

Two students were recently removed from Homewood-Flossmoor High School, following investigations into the validity of their residency.
Homewood-Flossmoor District 233 uses its Residency Verification Program to look into suspicious students, resulting in some being bounced from the school.
“We take this seriously,” Superintendent Von Mansfield told school board members at their January meeting, reports the Homewood Chronicle.

“We are taking the time. It’s a long process and we do due diligence. I think taxpayers approve of this.”
Students that might appear suspicious or as enrolled illegally are reported to Assistant Principal Craig Fantin at 708-335-5593. Fantin and investigators then dig into each case to decide if the complaint is legitimate. This year, they’ve investigated 48 situations so far. Families found in violation of residency requirements are then charged tuition for each day the student was enrolled—tuition this year costs $8,475 per semester.

Six students were removed from the school this year after hearings regarding the violations. Some parents willingly withdraw their students, waiving a hearing.
District 233 Board President Richard Lites said it’s their “fiduciary responsibility” to ensure students enrolled at H-F are the ones whose parents are paying taxes in the district.
