Watch: Vikings' Class 8A Football State Run Ends at Naperville Central
Homewood-Flossmoor couldn't keep up with Naperville Central in a 42-14 setback in the Class 8A football quarterfinals on Friday night.
After rolling through the first two rounds of the Class 8A football playoffs, Homewood-Flossmoor had its eyes on quarterfinal opponent Naperville Central. Friday's game didn't have quite the same outcome for the Vikings, though, as they fell 42-14 to the Redhawks in Naperville.
From the first whistle, Naperville Central grabbed the momentum as Nick Thomas returned the opening kickoff 76 yards for a touchdown. H-F responded with its own 80-yard drive as quarterback Tim Williams scored on a 1-yard touchdown dive. But it was all Redhawks from then on.
Two Williams interceptions and a fumble led to three Naperville Central touchdowns and H-F quickly found itself in a 35-7 hole. In the first half alone, Naperville Central quarterback Ian Lewandowski scored on two 1-yard touchdown runs and connected with Blake Butler on a 65-yard touchdown pass.

H-F found the end zone in the second half on a 1-yard touchdown run by Anfernee Roberts, but Lewandowski answered with a 3-yard touchdown scamper of his own to round out the scoring.
For the game, Williams threw for 191 yards, and three interceptions. He also ran for 64 yards and one touchdown for the Vikings, while Roberts added 46 yards and a score of his own.

For Naperville Central, Lewandowski rushed for 86 yards and three touchdowns while also throwing for 128 and a touchdown, and running back Matt Randolph added 64 yards rushing and one touchdown.
Naperville Central will face the winner of Saturday's matchup between Bolingbrook and Downers Grove South in the Class 8A semifinals.
