These might be some of the best places to live in the state, if you can afford what it will cost you.
If you live in one of Chicago’s suburban cities, there’s a good chance you’re living in one of the best places in Illinois, according to AreaVibes.
AreaVibes scores a city’s livability by measuring a variety of criteria, which include amenities, cost of living, crime, education, employment, housing and weather. Using what it calls a “unique algorithm,” it calculated scores and ranked a total of 100 Illinois cities.
We’ve listed the top 25 best places to live, but a data table follows with scores for the remaining ranked cities.

While these might be some great towns to call home, the cost-of-living grade for the majority of them is definitely not so great. Nor is the weather, but that’s a given.
