When Is It Time To Help One Neighbor at a Time?

Request for help for Mr. Jackson in Pembroke Township, Illinois who lives in deplorable conditions.

Good evening.  Our not-for-profit One Neighbor at a Time has been hard at work with our next neighbor in need.  We always want to make sure that they are comfortable with receiving help and we always want to make sure that we help them to improve their lives for what they need, not what we think they should have.

Mr. Jackson lives in a house that is of such disrepair that it is unlivable, but there he lives.  The rain a couple months ago was pouring into his house so bad, he realized that he could use some assistance.

Visiting his home, we realized that a roof was the least of his problems with his house.  With a bed made up of a board covered in a blanket, the home he is in has all windows boarded up, no electricity, water and is certainly exposed to the elements.

We will bring him new housing by way of the attached pictures.  A single room home that we will insulate, drywall, paint and make ready for him to live in.  The cost of this will be approximately $7,000.  $6,000 for the structure and $1,000 for the materials to insulate and finish the inside.  Please see the pictures to see what we mean.

We are not over improving his lot in life, just trying to make it safer, drier and warmer.

We know that we could not let our elderly parents live this way and would hope that if we couldn't help them, someone would.  We need to be the 'someone' for Mr. Jackson.
