Charity Fundraiser for Characters of Character

On June 4th at Raymond's Bowl we're having a Fundraiser and You're invited! From 6:00-7:00 we'll simply Mix-N-Mingle and eat some delicious food from Crescent City Cajun and check out the Raffle items. From 7:00-9:00 we'll bowl! There will be 50/50 tickets, Raffles and Fun. And, from 9:00-10:00 we'll listen to Live Music with Mississippi Stranglers, a Southern Rock Band. The cost is $25.00 per person. Characters of Character is a local 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit Organization whose mission is to provide a firm foundation for children to establish strong civic values. In 2005 the characters were piloted in an elementary school where they earned a National Promising Practice Award, in 2007 the organization was formed and we have not looked back since. We have volunteered in communities and events such as Lisle Eyes To The Skies, Chicago Land Kids Expo, Lamb's Farm with Santa , Chicago Land Toy and Game Fair, and classrooms, libraries and some others.

These funds will help us to attend School Social Workers Conferences, and the Home School community, whom we find to have a great interest in our resources as well as other events. So many times we travel with the costumes, we need to rent, borrow and beg for a vehicle to put them in, not to mention each character requires a person to walk along with them at these events making it quite the feat! But, the kids love the costumed characters, the coloring pages and information we share. We've received hundreds of letters from kids, parents have thanked us for sharing and opening up a discussion to what it means to have good character. So please, take some time out to learn about us and the work that we do and help get these important character messages into the daily language of our children. When you stop to listen to their conversations after they have been introduced to the characters, your heart will truly melt to hear a child say, "you aren't using your manners like Manners Monkey", or, "Healthy Hippo wouldn't eat a snack like that", or "Friendship Frog would like you to be my friend". Kids relate to these characters and internalize their meanings, please help us to continue our good work and to Make A Difference In The Life Of A Child.
