Deals, Tips To Save You $$$$

Last week, I listed the CVS extracare card as one more way to save you some green. This week, I have another CVS deal that will not only save you some green but it will save the planet some green too. As will the deal at Sally Beauty Supply especially, if you follow my tip.

And once again, I have listed yet another store closing. However, this one isn't news, but it is timely because their corporate offices issued a tentative date for the end of their going-out-of-business sale.

Frugal finds to help your bottom line:

1. , Lake in the Hills

 Deal: Purchase a Green BagTag for 99 cents, then bring it along with your own reusable shopping bag and on every fourth trip, receive a $1 extracare buck. (see last weeks Frugal Family to find out more about extracare bucks)

2. Sally Beauty Supply, Algonquin and

Deal: Sally has a different storewide sale each month. Sign up for their e-mail list here. Pick up a beauty club card for $5.00 and get even more discounts.

3. Borders, and McHenry

Deal: These nearby locations are two of their Chicago area stores that are slated for closing by the end of April and are participating in the clearance sale. Make sure to call ahead to verify the location is still open.

This week's last deal is an online freebie at startsampling.com. I recently signed up at their Web site and received my first sample box in the mail. I was pleasantly surprised to receive samples of Nonni's biscotti, Starbucks Via, Coffeemate  creamer, Wisk detergent, a waterproof deodorant from Secret, coupons and more!

Frugal tips to further your savings:

This tip takes advantage of the current sale going on at Sally Beauty Supply. They sell shampoo and conditioner in gallons for back-bar (salon wash station) refill. The shampoo is made to mix at an 8 to 1 ratio. It is on sale for $9.49 or $7.99 with the beauty club card. The conditioner is currently priced at $5.99, no additional club card discount. They also come in wonderful scents like, almond shampoo, which goes great with the wild cherry conditioner.

Because they come in gallon jugs, you will need to pour them into your own dispensing bottles. I re-use body wash bottles that have their own pumps, that way my kids can’t dump half a bottle out at a time. In addition, if the kids get pump happy, you won’t feel quite so bad when the product runs straight down the drain.
