If you're a fan of the Simpsons and an Illinoisan, you're going to love this.

For 25 years, the Simpsons have lived in the fictional town of Springfield. The show’s creator, Matt Groening, said he named the longest-running animated series after Springfield, Ore., though it’s not supposed to be representative of the town.

Those who are avid fans of the show, and acquainted with political strife in Illinois, might have picked up on some subtle parallels over the years that are all too familiar to Illinoisans.
