Police: Postal Worker Attacked by Pit Bull

The attack occurred on Alameda Drive in Carpentersville Thursday afternoon.

A 50-year-old female postal worker was taken to the hospital after being attacked Thursday afternoon by a male pit bull in Carpentersville.

The postal worker was attacked on Alameda Drive at 12:47 p.m. Thursday. The pit bull’s owner told police the dog broke through the screen door of its home, according to a Carpentersville Police Department press release.

The owner ran after the dog and found the victim on the ground. The postal employee suffered lacerations to her arms and head and was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment, police said.

Animal control captured the dog. The pit bull is scheduled for observation at Dundee Animal Hospital.

The incident remains under investigation to determine if charges against the dog’s owner are warranted.
