“…ultimately, the Common Core threatens the control of local communities and parents over their children’s education.
“That’s why I am an original co-sponsor of H. Res. 476, a House resolution which denounces federal coercion of states into adopting the Common Core.
“President Obama and the Department of Education have been using federal funds—your taxpayer dollars—and waivers to push states to adopt the national standards.
“It was truly a bait-and-switch, as struggling states jumped at federal government promises, but were given centralized education in return.
“As a parent who knows each child is unique and learns in their own way, I reject this one-size-fits-all approach to education policy.
“We must all ensure parents and teachers—not government bureaucrats—have the ultimate say in education.”
