2 Arrested After Gun Stolen From Car At Auto Business: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — A 30-year-old man from Crest Hill and his 29-year-old friend from Minooka were arrested Saturday afternoon in Joliet in connection with a loaded gun incident.

Brandon Lesley-Hadley of Crest Hill was taken to the Will County Jail on charges of burglary to a motor vehicle, battery and assault. As for Jeremy Drain he was arrested on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated assault and obstructing a peace officer.

  • At 12:23 p.m., officers went to a business in the 1600 block of North Larkin Avenue for a disturbance. Lesley-Hadley got into an argument with staff about his gun being stolen out of his vehicle by a 16-year-old juvenile employee while his vehicle was being serviced at the business.
  • After speaking with Joliet police, Lesley-Hadley and the 16-year-old juvenile were released from the scene in separate cars.
  • At 1:30 p.m., officers learned of another disturbance, this time at a business in the 2300 block of Theodore Street involving the same 16-year-old and Lesley-Hadley.
  • Lesley-Hadley had followed the juvenile to the business, blocking the juvenile in. That's when Lesley-Hadley entered the juvenile’s vehicle with the teen was still inside, and he took the juvenile’s phone and vehicle keys and struck the juvenile.
  • The juvenile ran into the business to separate himself from Lesley-Hadley and called his mother.
  • As squad cars arrived to the business in the 2300 block of Theodore Street, officers saw Drain standing near the juvenile’s vehicle. Officers told Drain to stop, at which point Drain started running.
  • During the chase, Drain pulled a handgun from his waistband and threw it, then complying with the officer’s commands, being taken into custody without further issue.
  • Drain’s loaded handgun was recovered at the scene.
  • As for Lesley-Hadley, the Crest Hill resident initially fled the scene, but he later returned and was taken into custody without issue.
  • Officers determined that Lesley-Hadley had contacted Drain about the earlier incident, and Drain came to the area to also confront the 16-year-old juvenile. Drain confronted the juvenile and his mother in the parking lot before the officers arrived.
  • Both Lesley-Hadley and Drain were transported to the Joliet Police Department for booking procedures, where they indicated their involvement in the incidents. They were then transported and released to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
