Abuser Drank Entire Whiskey Bottle In One Night: Documents

Ryan McBee got a $1 million bail in his domestic violence case, Patch reported last week.

JOLIET, IL - Documents at the Will County Courthouse paint a disturbing picture about Ryan McBee, a convicted felon and convicted domestic abuser who now finds himself in serious trouble with the law once again. Last week, Patch reported that new judge Derek Ewanic set a $1 million bail for McBee, which is exceptionally high for a domestic violence case. The 42-year-old McBee, who has a Plainfield mailing address in the 1900 block of Winger Drive, is being charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a Class 3 felony, and domestic battery, a Class 4 felony.

McBee has remained in the county jail since May 20. He needs to come up with $100,000 cash to post bond and that has not happened.

McBee "knowingly possessed on or about his person ... a firearm, a .22 Marlin rifle," even though McBee "has been previously convicted of a felony, aggravated battery, in the Circuit Court of LaSalle County" back in 1998, court papers show.

Meanwhile, another of the county's judges has granted an emergency protection order forbidding the defendant from having contact with his estranged wife or her children. The order also helps shed light on the circumstances of McBee's arrest by the Joliet Police Department on May 20.

That day, "Ryan came home extremely drunk. He started verbally abusing me, he told me there was things that he was going to make me do. He pulled my hair to make me go into the bedroom with me. He poured beer down my back," court papers show.

"I ran out of the house and called the police. The police arrived and he refused to open the door for them. They called me back and I opened the garage for the police. They opened the back door and Ryan tried to slam it shut. My 2-year-old was standing at his side and fell into the gate that led downstairs. He fell down about four-five steps and the police man caught him."

The woman notified the court system, "I got my child and some things and left. Ryan was arrested that night and the police found a loaded gun in our home. I did not know about it."

McBee's drinking has been on the rise of late, court documents show.

"Ryan has been drinking every two-three days and when he drinks, he drinks very heavy," court papers show. "He drank an entire bottle of whiskey in one night. When he drinks in this way he verbally abused me, he hits me, he slaps me, he spits in face. He pours beer all over me, he throws objects at me. At one point I called my dad to come help me. He got in my dad's face and threatened to beat him up."

The woman also informed the judge that "I believed what he said, that I was a bad wife and I deserved to (be) hit and the fighting was all my fault ... This abuse has been going on for about two-and-a-half years," court papers reveal.
