Alan Zordan Obituary

Village of Mokena Economic and Community Development Director

Alan Zordan

64, passed away peacefully June 9, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 43 years Nancy A. Pohlman and his adored and adoring daughters Lisa and Julie Pohlman-Zordan, all who were at his side.

Alan was a longtime resident of the New Lenox/Mokena area. He was a dedicated public servant for 42 years, most of which was in service to the residents of the Village of Mokena as its Economic and Community Development Director.

He graduated from Lincoln-Way High School, Joliet Junior College and Eastern Illinois University and earned a master’s degree in Public Administration from Governors State University

Alan had many hobbies and interests related to astronomy, music, history, athletics, car racing and science. He preferred the outdoors and enjoyed tending to the yard and gardens. He was an automobile enthusiast who loved the open road and always looked forward to the next road trip. He was particularly fond of golf and enjoyed playing all the local courses with his many friends.

He was most proud of his two daughters who were the love of his life.

He is survived by his parents Aldo and Virginia Zordan of Mokena, along with brothers and sisters-in-law David Zordan and Janet McGrath of Cleveland Heights, OH; Larry and Merri Zordan of Frankfort; and Terry and Kate Zordan of New Lenox. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Nancy J. (Doug) Pohlman of New Lenox and sister- and brother-in-law Susan and Larry Hug of Joliet.

Alan is survived by many nieces and nephews: David, Brian, Daniel and Helen Zordan, Amy (Jon Spence), Elizabeth (Nick Juarez), Josh (Jen) Jeffrey, Larissa (Chris Barker), Emma Zordan, and Doug and Lauren Hug, as well as a grandniece and grandnephews.

A special thanks to his wonderful brothers Terry and Larry for their unwavering love and care during Alan’s long illness. Thanks also to great friends Roy Giuntoli and George Metanias.

Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Alan’s life at an open house from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 9 at Enrico’s Italian Restaurant in Frankfort.

Memorials may be made in remembrance of Alan to the UChicago Medicine Comprehensive

Cancer Center where he received excellent care.
