Northwestern College’s Bridgeview Campus Participates in Pen Pal Program with Bridgeview School 4th Graders

[Bridgeview, IL]  Twenty (20) staff and faculty members of Northwestern College participated in the Bridgeview Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s 2012 Pen Pal Program with Bridgeview School’s fourth grade classes.  Multiple businesses of the Bridgeview community participated, providing pen pals for approximately seventy five (75) fourth graders during the fall quarter of the school year.  A number of letters were exchanged between the children and Northwestern College staff and faculty, as well as with other Chamber Members and employees including Walmart, Archer Bank, Marquette Bank and Bridgeview Bank.  The program culminated in a pizza party on December 11^th where the children got to meet their pen pals and share pizza, punch, popcorn and ice cream.  The food for the party was donated by Northwestern College, Walmart, Archer Bank and Culvers.

The Bridgeview Chamber of Commerce and Industry has hosted this event for a number of years, with Northwestern College being a steady participant in the program.  Chamber members were impressed this year with the quality of writing in the fourth grade class.  It is a program that is enjoyed by many each time it is held.

“These kids put a lot into these letters,” commented Tony Sapata, Northwestern College’s Bridgeview Campus Director.  “It’s a really special thing to receive a note from your pen pal, especially when it includes a dinosaur drawn on the page.  Always puts a smile on your face!”
