Bedroom Stabbing On Wilcox, Man's Biceps Slashed With Knife: JPD

Joliet police were sent to an apartment in the 500 block of Wilcox Street for a person who was stabbed. A 38-year-old man was arrested.

JOLIET, IL — A 38-year-old Joliet man from the 1000 block of Fisk Avenue, over in the Ridgewood Neighborhood, is now in the Will County Jail facing a $20,000 bail following a stabbing inside a bedroom in the 500 block of Wilcox Street over the weekend.

Will County Jail inmate Kirstein McGhee was taken away in handcuffs by Joliet police on aggravated battery charges.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the following events led to the arrest of McGhee early Sunday morning:

  • At 1:36 a.m., Joliet police were called to an apartment in the 500 block of Wilcox because someone had been stabbed. Officers located a 48-year-old man with a stab wound to the right bicep.
  • McGhee and the victim became involved in a fight after the victim had located McGhee in his bedroom. During the fight, McGhee produced a pocketknife and stabbed the victim in the right bicep. McGhee then ran from the apartment.
  • Officers learned that McGhee was at the home visiting another person. The victim was transported to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department.
  • Officers found McGhee a short distance away from the apartment on Wilcox and placed him into custody without incident.
  • Officers recovered the pocketknife used in the attack. McGhee was also taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department ambulance for an injured hand.
  • When McGhee was released from the hospital, he was brought to the Will County Jail where he remains, unable to post the necessary $2,000 cash as bond.
