Brooke Hernandez Brewer Expected to Replace McFarland on Joliet City Council
The council will vote on Tuesday.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet resident Brooke Hernandez Brewer is expected to replace former Councilman Jim McFarland on the Joliet City Council, according to a news release. She will finish his term of At-Large-Council representative.
Brooke is a lifelong Joliet resident who attended Pershing and St. Paul the Apostle Grade Schools and Providence Catholic High School. She is married to Kevin Brewer, a Will County Deputy Correctional Officer, and has three children who attend St. Paul the Apostle Grade School. Brooke is a parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and previously taught CCD at St. John’s. She is a member of the Women’s Loyal Order of the Moose 300 and the American Legion Post 1080.
“I am honored to be considered for a position that plays such an important role in our community,” Brooke said in the release. “By taking on this role as the first Hispanic female on the Joliet City Council, I look forward to being a strong voice for both women and the Hispanic community, however, it is my intention to be an advocate for all Joliet residents and to be a servant of this community.”

Brooke Hernandez Brewer will be present Monday, October 3, at the Pre-Council meeting to address the City Council and the vote on her appointment will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the City Council meeting.
“I anticipate Brooke will be approved by the Council and I am very excited to have her on-board. We have some major issues to address on behalf of the City,” said Mayor O’Dekirk. “Brooke’s presence on the Council will assist in providing a new voice and diverse perspective on Joliet.”
