Car Stolen From Joliet Auto Repair Shop On Jefferson: JPD

Joliet police responded to the Auto Doc mechanic shop at 912 West Jefferson for a stolen vehicle. The crime led to arrest of Jacob Goggans.

JOLIET, IL — A 23-year-old Joliet man is now in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say Jacob Goggans stole someone's car from the Auto Doc mechanic shop at 912 West Jefferson St.

Goggans lives in the 3100 block of Rosemont Drive. He's been charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English outlined the following events surrounding Monday's capture:

  • At 8:42 a.m. on Monday, officers were called to the mechanic shop because a customer's Saturn L300 was stolen from the business parking lot during the weekend.
  • Officers determined the keys were accounted for and that no one had been given permission to drive the vehicle.
  • Later, officers spotted the stolen Saturn in the 400 block of Cass Street, and Goggans was driving the car.
  • Goggans was placed into custody without incident. Goggans was also cited for having no front registration plate, no valid driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
  • Goggans was unknown to the owner of the vehicle. The 23-year-old resident was questioned and implicated his involvement in the vehicle theft.
