CREST HILL, IL — Roughly 48 hours after Crest Hill police found a 16-year-old boy slain in the 1700 block of Arbor Lane, a 20-year-old local resident has been arrested.

Travion Terrell, who lived in an apartment unit in the same block of Monday's slaying, was booked into the Will County Jail around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Joliet Patch learned.

Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark told Joliet Patch's editor that Terrell has been charged with two felonies: reckless discharge of a gun and involuntary manslaughter.

The Will County Coroner's office identified the teen as Trayvon C. Frazier of Jackson, Tennessee. Monday's deadly shooting occurred inside a Crest Hill apartment unit, Clark said.

"The untimely death of this juvenile is a tragedy," Clark said in a news release. "Our investigation revealed this as a careless, reckless, act that could have been prevented. I personally would like to thank everyone involved in assisting with this case, our patrol officers who responded to the scene, investigators, and the Will/Grundy Major Crimes Task Force."

Terrell will go before a Will County judge Thursday afternoon for his bail hearing.

In a strange twist to the homicide investigation, a vehicle connected to Terrell was recovered from the WJOL radio station parking lot at 2410 Caton Farm Road, the Joliet news radio station reported on Wednesday morning.

Chief Clark said the distance from the deadly shooting to the radio station property is a couple miles.
