Crest Hill Murder Of Joliet Resident From 2018: Arrest Made
Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark made the announcement on Thursday afternoon. Here's the details.
JOLIET, IL — Almost nine months ago, Crest Hill Police were summoned to a deadly shooting on Pioneer Road. A 20-year-old Joliet man, Aaron Tucker, was killed inside a car during the daylight hours of Nov. 5. No arrests were made. Then, at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday night, Crest Hill Police arrested 25-year-old David Luellen, charging him with first-degree murder.
Luellen lived in the same neighborhood where the killing occurred. "Aaron Tucker perished from injuries sustained in a shooting incident that occurred on November 5, 2018 in the 1400 block of Pioneer Road after a confrontation occurred at the apartment building," Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark announced on Thursday afternoon in a press statement.
Luellen has been charged by prosecutors with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree Murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm. His bail was set at $2 million.

“Our investigators worked tirelessly on the case. I am very proud of the team effort and this is a fine example of our Police Department’s dedication to the community,” Clark said.
Clark also told Joliet Patch that detective Joe Locasto was the case agent and he deserves recognition for doing an exemplary job in solving the homicide. The entire detective division worked the slaying, Clark added.

As far as Locasto's role in the case was concerned, "he did a fantastic job and they all did a really, really, good job of working it. It was a lot of hard work."
Clark said he didn't want to go into details yet as far as the motive for the killing, but he acknowledged there was a confrontation between Luellen and Tucker that occurred prior to the fatal shooting.
Clark did acknowledge that Luellen had been a potential suspect for some time, "as the case developed."
