Gunfire At Murphy's Express On Route 59: Shooter Flees
About a dozen Joliet police cars were at the crime scene Thursday evening at the Murphy's Express along the Route 59.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police set up crime scene tape around the Murphy's Express on Route 59 to investigate a shooting Thursday night. About a dozen Joliet police cars were on the scene, and the Murphy's was closed off to customers for several hours.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English notified Joliet Patch that the shooting happened at the Murphy's Express at 5:58 p.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed that while in the gas station parking lot, someone fired a gun from the passenger side of one vehicle at another vehicle, striking only the vehicle.

Both vehicles struck an unoccupied and uninvolved vehicle parked at a gas pump, Joliet police said. The occupants of the shooter's vehicle then ran off. This appears to be an isolated incident, English added.
"This is an active investigation in its early stages as Joliet Police Detectives work to identify a suspect or suspects. The Joliet Police Department will provide updates when further information becomes available," police said.

Shortly after 7 p.m., Joliet resident Bob Hernandez went to the Murphy's to produce one of his Facebook Live videos.
"And this is at Murphy's on Route 59 right in front of the Walmart," Hernandez announced. "So, people who say that crime only happens on the east side or near west side of Joliet, that's not the case. It happens everywhere."
