Curtis Gaylord Raped His Girlfriend: Police
Joliet police found the woman crying inside the bathroom at the home on May Street.

JOLIET, IL - A 62-year-old Joliet man is being held at the Will County Adult Detention Facility in connection with allegations of rape. Joliet police have charged Curtis Gaylord, 100 block of South May Street, with a felony count of criminal sexual assault without consent and a felony charge of unlawful restraint. Gaylord also faces misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.
Joliet's Deputy Chief of Police Ed Gregory said the incident surrounding Gaylord's arrest unfolded around 4 a.m. Sunday. Joliet officers responded to a call at the home involving a 44-year-old woman claiming she was being held against her will. When officers arrived at the home, Gaylord refused to let them inside, Gregory said. Officers tried using a loud speaker, but that didn't work either. Eventually, several minutes later, Gaylord came to the door and finally opened it, Gregory said.
Inside, officers found Gaylord's girlfriend of 10 years crying inside a bathroom. According to Gregory, "She alleges that she had sex unwillingly with Mr. Gaylord and that he put his hand over her mouth" to prevent her from calling 911 and that he "restrained her in the residence."
