Upon further investigation, Joliet police say the handgun was previously reported stolen from Mississippi.

JOLIET, IL — A 30-year-old ex-convict who lives in Crest Hill was hauled away from an east side gas station in handcuffs early Monday morning, according to Joliet police arrest logs.
Treyvonne Rideout of Crest Hill was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility by Joliet police on charges of being an armed habitual criminal, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of ammunition, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and an Illinois Department of Corrections parole violation warrant.
- According to Jolie police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to Monday's arrest of Rideout:
- Around 1:55 a.m., Joliet police saw a Hyundai Elantra parked at the BP gas station at 6 McDonough Street. Police said offficers recognized this car from an incident that occurred Friday night at 10 p.m. when Rideout was the driver, and he sped away from officers in the area of North Hickory Street and Division Street.
- At the BP gas station, Rideout was seen inside the store by officers, and he was placed into custody for the June 19th incident. When officers searched Rideout, officials say they recovered cocaine and a loaded handgun.
- The handgun was determined to be previously reported stolen from Mississippi. Rideout was also processed on an Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Violation warrant. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
