District 86 Union President Says Tentative Agreement In Place
A total of 789 teachers have been working without a new contract since August.

JOLIET, IL — Therese Skwarczynski, president of the District 86 teachers union, informed Joliet Patch that a tentative agreement for a new teachers union contract is now in place between the teachers negotiating team and the school administration.
The teachers union was pushing for a new three-year contract with raises totaling 14.25. The school administration was willing to approve a new three-year contract with raises totaling 7 percent.
According to the District 86 teachers union president, 85 percent of the teachers had voted in favor of going on strike.

"After the strike vote, we came to a tentative agreement this evening," she said, referring to Tuesday night, Nov. 19.
Details of the agreement haven't been publicized yet.
