Bays told Joliet Patch on Wednesday that his crews are aiming to have the renovations of the old Aaron's building done by the end of this month in preparation for DoorDash's occupancy.

"They've got a lot of refrigeration units going in there, that whole building is going to be full of coolers," Bays remarked.

Bays said it's his understanding Joliet will be one of several new test markets that DoorDash is introducing across the country.

The test markets will be for the delivery of food and liquor products, among other things, Bays said.

DoorDash is occupying the part of the building right next to the Royal Palace banquet hall, which is operated by Phil Petrakos.

"They'll be stocking a lot of stuff," Bays said. "I know there's not going to be any cooking, but they're doing a test market in maybe 40 states."
