Facebook Shuts Down Page for Joliet Medical Marijuana Dispensary

Facebook's policy states that ads must not promote illegal products, services or activities.

Despite medical marijuana being legal in Illinois, it appears Facebook does not approve of dispensaries using the social media site for promotion.

3C Compassionate Care Clinic, which has locations in both Naperville and Joliet, has had its Facebook page shut down.

Dispensary Patient-Care Specialist David Cope told the Chicago Tribune that since marijuana is still illegal on the federal level, Facebook has the right to ban dispensary pages, adding that the bans have been going on for some time.

Despite that, it would appear that 3C has already created a new page. While the page doesn’t have much on it, it does provide some basic information and a link to the dispensary’s website.

According to Facebook’s advertising policy, “(ads) must not constitute, facilitate, or promote illegal products, services or activities,” which includes the sale or use of illegal, prescription or recreational drugs.
