Felony DUI Arrest, Woman Kicks Joliet Police In Leg: Cops
Michelle Mietkiewicz was driving a GMC pickup westbound on Kenmore Avenue and collided into the rear of a parked Hyundai sedan, police say.

JOLIET, IL — A 47-year-old Romeoville woman was arrested by Joliet police on several felony charges including aggravated DUI following Saturday morning's crash on Kenmore Avenue. Joliet police also say Michelle Mietkiewicz kicked one of their officers in connection with her arrest.
Joliet police say the Romeoville woman was released from custody on a Notice to Appear on charges of Aggravated DUI, DUI, Obstructing a Peace Officer and Battery.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said the incident happened around 11:30 a.m.

According to English, the following events led Mietkiewicz's arrest:
- Officers responded to the 1200 block of Kenmore Avenue for a crash.
- Mietkiewicz was driving a GMC pickup truck westbound on Kenmore Avenue and she collided into the rear of a parked Hyundai sedan facing westbound on the street. No injuries were reported.
- While speaking with officers, Mietkiewicz exhibited behaviors consistent with alcohol impairment. Mietkiewicz began to walk away from the officers as they attempted to interview her about the incident. Mietkiewicz ignored their commands to stop.
- Officers caught up to Mietkiewicz and tried to place her in custody at which time she dropped to the ground and began to struggle with them.
- Mietkiewicz kicked an officer in the leg while the officer was attempting to search her following the arrest. Officers discovered an open alcohol container in her vehicle and Mietkiewicz did not possess a driver’s license.
Joliet police noted that Mietkiewicz was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, No Valid Driver’s License, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by Driver. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
