Update: Female Body Found in Ditch Outside Joliet
Updated with a statement from the Will County Sheriff's Office.

Updated at 9 a.m. Thursday:
The Will County Sheriff’s Office released the following statement:
“The Will County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a found body in the area of Zurich Rd. and Brandon Rd. in unincorporated Joliet Township. On Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at approximately 6:00PM a citizen called in reference to the discovery of a deceased subject in the field off Zurich Rd. near Brandon Rd. At this time the identity of the person is unknown; however, it appears to be the body of a female black. An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the cause of death. At this time it is being considered a suspicious death investigation. Anyone that may have seen or heard anything in that area is requested to contact the Will County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division at 815-727-8574, or go to www.willcosheriff.org and click on ’Submit A Crime Tip.’”

A body was found in a Zurich Road ditch Wednesday night.

The body of a female was discovered and pronounced deceased about 7:30 p.m. The body was in a ditch on Zurich near Brandon Road.
Police believe the victim was slain but did not disclose how, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office. More than 12 hours after the body was found, officials also did not say whether the victim was an adult or a child.
The sheriff’s department did not respond to calls for comment.
The coroner’s office said the victim would be identified through fingerprints. An autopsy was scheduled for today.
