Gertrud Luzi Foster “Gerty”

Passed away peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the age 84.

Survived by her sons Henry Lenz of Raleigh, NC., Franklin D. Foster, Jr. of Joliet and Mykelin (Lea) Foster of Rolling Meadows, IL. Six grandchildren Pagen Lenz, Franklin D. Foster III, Laila Foster, Jasmine Foster, Tessani Foster, and Robbie Lee Williams-Foster. Six great-grandchildren Jalaina Jones, Jace Avery, McKenzie Avery, Mason Tucker, Franklin D. Foster IV and Ashton Armstrong. Gerty also leaves behind her siblings Michaela Fiedler, Manuala Kunkel, Hatmut Kunkel, Konrad Kunkel and her favorite cousin Sabiene Herzberg. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her husband Franklin D. Foster, Sr., her son Lt. Terance Foster Joliet FPD, sister Sylvia Stienhouse, and brother Detlef Kunkel.

Gertrud was born June 24, 1940 in Oderberg, West Germany. She was faithfully devoted to her husband Franklin D. Foster, Sr. for 36 years. Gertrud retired from Tel Labs in Lisle, IL.. She spent her retirement enjoying gardening, building and creating. There wasn’t anything she could not do. She had a strong determination and was incredibly creative.

Private cremation services were held. Gertrud will be inurned with her husband Franklin at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a future date.
