Grocery Thief Arrested At Joliet Walmart: Complaint
Allison Kern was also convicted earlier this year of retail theft, court filings show.

JOLIET, IL -A convicted retail thief from the Coal City area remains in the Will County Jail one week after being arrested at the Joliet Walmart on Route 59 on charges of stealing groceries. Allison Kern, 35, of Diamond, Illinois, was arrested by Joliet Police on July 24. She faces one felony retail theft.
Police say Walmart's security team saw Kern put several grocery items into her bag and when she went to the self-checkout counter, she "failed to pay for any of the items that she placed into her bag," police said. When Kern tried to leave Walmart, the security team sprang into action and detained her until Joliet Police arrived, according to police. She was subsequently taken to the Will County Jail.
The July 25 criminal complaint states that Kern faces an enhanced Class 4 felony because she was convicted of another retail theft earlier this year in Livingston County. A Will County judge set her bail at $10,000, 10 percent. In the event Kern posts her bond, the judge ordered her to stay out of all Walmart stores.
