Heavily Tinted Windows On Joliet's South Side Leads To Gun Arrest: JPD

Joliet police were driving southbound in the 400 block of S. Ottawa Street and saw the silver Kia Optima driving northbound.

JOLIET, IL — A 21-year-old Arthur Avenue resident was arrested Friday night in connection with having a loaded gun inside his car, according to Joliet police reports.

Dohnovyn Grocesley-Lovelace was booked into the Will County Adult Detention Facility on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He was later released without having to post any cash bond, jail logs show.

  • At 8:51 p.m., officers were driving southbound in the 400 block of South Ottawa Street, and they saw the silver Kia Optima driving northbound with heavily tinted windows.
  • Officers conducted a traffic stop on the Kia and identified Grocesley-Lovelace as the driver, and he had a revoked Illinois driver’s license.
  • A subsequent search of the vehicle produced a loaded handgun.
  • Grocesley-Lovelace was taken into custody and Grocesley-Lovelace was also issued traffic citations for the vehicle tint and revoked driver’s license.
