Bad News: Huey Lewis Cancels Taste Of Joliet Show

Joliet Park District forced to find a new headliner after the singer revealed alarming health news.

JOLIET, IL - In January, thousands of Joliet-area residents were ecstatic to learn Huey Lewis & The News would be the music headliner at June's Taste of Joliet venue. On Friday, the Joliet Park District learned some bad news. Huey Lewis & The News apparently will not be playing at 9 p.m. Friday, June 22 in Joliet as previously scheduled. Instead, Huey Lewis announced Friday afternoon on his Twitter account that he has been forced to cancel all of his remaining 2018 concerts due to hearing loss.

"Two and a half months ago, just before a show in Dallas, I lost most of my hearing. Although I can still hear a little, one on one, and on the phone, I can't hear music well enough to sing," Huey Lewis declared on Twitter. Lewis indicated he has visited the Mayo Clinic, among other facilities. "The doctors believe I have Meniere's disease and have agreed that I can't perform until I approve."

This year's Taste of Joliet festival at ATI Field's Joliet Memorial Stadium is June 22-24.
