Joliet Ex-Con Jailed Last Week Jumped Rival and Snatched His Cell Phone: Cops
The ex-convict was involved in an "ongoing feud" with the other man, police said.

A Joliet ex-convict arrested last week on a robbery charge earned his trip to jail for jumping another man and stealing his cell phone, police said.
Steven Gutierrez, 29, was having “ongoing problems” with the other man when he saw him standing on Plainfield Road near Taylor Street the afternoon of April 5, police said.
Gutierrez allegedly jumped out of a car and attacked the man, and left with his rival’s cell phone.

Police said Gutierrez and the other man have been involved in an “ongoing feud.”
Gutierrez was arrested at his North Prairie Street home Thursday and charged with robbery. He was taken to the Will County jail and his bond was set at $200,000.

Gutierrez was released from Western Illinois Correctional Center in January, according to state records. He served two years and two months for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison for attempted murder.
