Joliet Man, 40, Gets Arrested Twice On Same Night
Joliet police officers met with Francisco Alvizo, 40, and learned that he was upset that his vehicle had been towed from the DUI arrest.

JOLIET — Over the weekend, the Joliet Police Department arrested the same person on the very same night. It happened to 40-year-old resident Francisco Alvizo, whose first arrest on Sunday night involved charges of DUI and DUI over 0.08.
As for the first arrest, according to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at around 9:15 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Garnsey Avenue for a report of an intoxicated male. The officers saw the male walking away from a Chevrolet van. At that point, police said, Alvizo was advised to call for a ride due to his apparent intoxicated state.
Officers then cleared the area.

Approximately one hour later, officials said Joliet police saw the same Chevrolet van traveling near Garnsey Avenue and Jackson Street. Officers stopped the Chevrolet in the 600 block of Jackson Street for failure to signal a turn.
Alvizo was the driver and again displayed behaviors consistent with alcohol impairment, police said. Alvizo performed field sobriety tests, and was placed into custody. According to police, officers found an open container of alcohol in Alvizo’s van.

Alvizo was also cited for failure to signal when turning and illegal transportation of alcohol, and the van was towed from the scene.
Less than two hours later, Alvizo was arrested again in downtown Joliet, this time on charges of disorderly conduct.
According to officials, at around 11:50 p.m., Joliet police released Alvizo and gave him the notice to appear in Will County court on the DUI charges from earlier that night.
At that point, according to English, Alvizo proceeded to the front of the Joliet Police Department and pressed the afterhours button that connects to the Joliet Police Department 911 Center. Police believe Alvizo repeatedly activated the button, causing a new call to the 911 center each time.
Officers met with Alvizo and learned that he was upset that his vehicle had been towed from the DUI arrest. Officers explained the tow process and the location of his vehicle to Alvizo.
According to police, Alvizo then left the area and proceeded to call 911 multiple times from his cell phone about his van being towed. It was determined that Alvizo had contacted the 911 emergency line 10 times in less than 45 minutes from both the button at the Joliet Police Department and his cell phone.
English said Alvizo was found near the Will County Courthouse and was placed into custody without incident. Officers determined that at no time did Alvizo report an emergency.
