Joliet Man Swings Chain Wildly, Victim Rushed To St. Joe's: Police

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police officers arrested 38-year-old Hunter Avenue resident Cedric Allen in connection with two completely different crimes over the weekend and one of the crimes sent his victim to St. Joe's hospital because Allen bit them on the bicep after throwing a beer can at them, according to arrest reports.

Joliet police said that Allen was eventually tracked down — driving the golf cart he stole the night before from the Pilot Travel Center on Laraway Road — and arrested for the violence. He's charged with aggravated battery.

At 2:36 p.m. on Sunday, Joliet police responded to the Riverwalk Homes at 316 North Bluff Street for a disturbance.

Allen appeared intoxicated and had been swinging a large chain around, in the presence of children. A man then approached Allen and advised him to stop, at which time Allen threw a beer can at the victim and then fought with the victim, biting the victim in the left bicep.

Allen then ran off; his victim was taken to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with minor injuries sustained in the attack.

Officers located Allen driving the stolen golf cart near the intersection of Campbell Street and Reed Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop and placed Allen into custody without incident.
