Stolen Golf Cart At Pilot Travel Center Leads To Joliet Man's Arrest

Joliet police said the golf cart was stolen from the property during the overnight hours of August 5 into August 6.

JOLIET, IL — A 38-year-old Joliet man, Cedric Allen, is now locked away in the Will County Jail after Joliet police say Allen stole a golf cart from the Pilot Travel Center on East Laraway Road. Allen's crime happened late Friday night or early Saturday morning, according to Joliet police.

Allen's now in the jail facing charges of felony theft.

Officers learned that a golf cart had been stolen during the overnight hours of August 5 into August 6.

On Sunday, at 3:52 p.m, Joliet police spotted the stolen golf cart being driven by Allen near the intersection of Campbell Street and Reed Street.

Officers made a traffic stop and placed Allen into custody without incident. The golf cart was towed from the scene. Allen was also issued traffic citations for operating a non-highway vehicle on the roadway without a valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid driver’s license, and illegal transportation of alcohol by the driver.

Incidentally, Allen was the subject of a second incident, one involving violence, on Sunday, and that resulted in his arrest as well. That Joliet Patch crime story is posted below.
