Joliet Man Unhappy With Police Repeatedly Calls 911: Cops

The Joliet man was already wanted on a charge of telephone harassment.

A Joliet man wanted on a charge of telephone harassment repeatedly called 911 to complain about the cops showing up at his house when he wasn’t home, police said.

Glenn Nowak, 48, was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting police in connection with his alleged misbehavior Monday night.

The cops first went to Nowak’s Morris Street about 10 p.m. to arrest him on a phone harassment warrant out of Worth.

Nowak wasn’t around, police said, but got back an hour or so later and wasn’t happy. He allegedly called 911 five times and the police department’s nonemergency number seven times. Dispatchers taking Nowak’s calls reportedly heard a woman screaming in the background while he cursed at them.

Officers went back to Nowak’s place but he wouldn’t open the door, police said. He finally relented when they threatened to force their way inside.

Officers found Nowak’s girlfriend—who was apparently the woman screaming in the background while he was on the phone—in the house but she insisted he had not harmed her, police said.

Nowak reportedly explained to the police that he kept calling 911 because he was displeased with the cops showing up at his house. He claimed the officers disturbed both his girlfriend and 8-year-old son, who was not in the residence that night, police said.

Nowak was taken to the Will County jail.
