Canceled: Celebrity Bartending Event At The Dock

The four-hour event was set for Tuesday night at The Dock, Joliet's bar owned by retired Joliet officers Mike and Rick Trafton.

JOLIET, IL — On Monday night, The Dock At Inwood informed readers of the Joliet Patch that a Tuesday night celebrity bartending event has been canceled.

Last week, Joliet police posted an event notice about the Jan. 21 drinking event on the police department's Facebook page, which has more than 28,000 Facebook followers. After Patch republished the event notice, the social media site for The Dock posted the following comment on the article: "We apologize but this event has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts."

The Dock opened in late 2018 at 3000 W. Jefferson St. The bar and restaurant is owned by brothers Mike and Rick Trafton, both retired members of Joliet's Police Department. Mike Trafton was the city's police chief during the Nightmare on Hickory Street murders.

According to the Will County Crimestoppers, all tips at at The Dock were supposed to go to Crimestoppers as well as 10 percent of all food orders throughout the entire day.

In January 2019, The Dock also held a five-hour-long celebrity bartending event, to help Big Brothers and Big Sisters. The celebrity bartenders for that event included: Joliet Mayor Bob O'Dekirk, Don "Duck" Dickinson, Lauren Staley Ferry, Andrea Chasteen, Sue Georgantas Gulas, Jan Quillman, Jennifer Kane Howard, Joe Mutz, Joe Clement, Scott Slocum, Terry D'Arcy, Joliet Police Chief Al Roechner, Deputy Chiefs Marc Reid, Darrell Gavin, John Perona and Mike Batis.

According to Joliet police, Tuesday night's event at The Dock aims to raise money to purchase a drone that could be used and shared by all Will County law enforcement agencies.
