The last Joliet Police Department shooting of a criminal suspect happened on April 6, 2022.

Ryan Reddick —a 36-year-old convicted felon out on bail still facing several 2020 felony charges —was shot three times by a Joliet police officer on Linden Avenue.

A few days later, Reddick was released from the hospital and put into the Will County Jail on charges of armed habitual criminal, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of marijuana in a car and obstructing a peace officer.

Joliet Patch reported that Reddick bolted from the passenger seat of the car being stopped near Gardner Street and Linden Avenue. He ran from the scene, holding his gun and dropped it in the dark, stopping to retrieve it from the ground.

"The gun falls out of his hand, he stops, and turns and picked it back up. He just as easily could have shot the officer," Joliet Patch's source said at the time.

Reddick lives in the 500 block of Landau Avenue on the city's east side.
