Joliet Public Library to Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month

JOLIET – The Joliet Public Library is gearing up to join libraries across the country to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month this September. With a free library card, any resident of the city of Joliet can enjoy access to things like magazines, books, music streaming, free technology classes, and more.

It is quick and easy to sign up for a library card. Simply visit one of the library locations and present identification and address verification. Children as young as three may apply for a library card with parental consent and signature. When you sign up this September with Joliet Public Library, you will receive a Joliet Public Library special card holder.

The Joliet Public Library is not just about books, there is something for everyone. The Main Library in downtown Joliet hosts the Digital Media Studio (or DMS) which patrons can rent use of with their library card to produce music, make videos, record songs, print posters, edit photos and even test out 3D printing. Both the Main Library and the Black Road Branch have quiet areas for those who are looking for a place to concentrate, computers classes, free internet access, meeting rooms, programs for job seekers, and wireless printing. Be sure to check out the Book and Bean Café at the Black Road Branch for a coffee or lunch!

In addition to the collection of books and services the library provides, this fall there are several scheduled programs for adults, teens and children at both locations.
