Joliet Resident Shoots Up Backyard On Fourth Of July: Police
Zandra Rent, 46, was taken to Will County's Jail on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm following the Fourth of July incident.

JOLIET, IL — Just as the community of Joliet's annual fireworks show was taking place at Memorial Stadium, officers monitoring the east side of the city were sent to an apartment house in the 500 block of Ward Avenue where someone was shooting a gun off, according to arrest logs.
Zandra Ann Rent, a 46-year-old resident of the 500 block of Ward Avenue, was booked into the Will County Jail at 11:51 p.m. on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm.
According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events happened on the Fourth of July:

- At 9:30 p.m, officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Ward Avenue for a report of a woman firing a handgun in the backyard.
- Officers found numerous spent shell casings in the backyard and Rent was at the residence, and she was identified as the person suspected of firing a handgun into the air while she stood in the backyard.
- Rent was placed into custody without incident. No injuries or property damage were reported.
