Joliet Teen With Loaded Gun Booked Into Will County's Jail: JPD

The afternoon arrest of Terrell J. Williams, age 18, happened in the area of East Clay Street and Parks Avenue, on Joliet's east side.

JOLIET, IL — A Tuesday afternoon traffic stop made by Joliet police officers on the city's east side led to the arrest of 18-year-old Terrell J. Williams on felony gun charges. Williams comes from the apartment units in the 0 to 100 block of North Broadway Street, but the traffic stop happened on the east side.

According to Joliet police spokesman Olin Torkelson, the following events led to the teenager's arrest on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of ammunition, and having No FOID:

At 4:15 p.m., officers in the area of East Clay Street and Parks Avenue saw a white Kia commit a moving violation. A traffic stop was conducted and Williams, a passenger in the car, was not wearing a seatbelt.

Officers determined the Kia would be towed due to the driver having a suspended license.

A loaded handgun was found in the possession of Williams after he stepped out of the car.

Williams was taken into custody without any issues. After spending the past two days in the Will County, Williams walked out of the Will County Jail around 1:20 a.m. on Thursday. He had posted the necessary 10 percent of his $10,000 to regain his freedom while his case is pending at the courthouse.
