Joliet's 1st Homicide In Many Months Happened On Jefferson Street
Sunday's homicide happened around 2 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Jefferson Street. The victim died at St. Joe's hospital.

JOLIET, IL — For only the third time this year, the city of Joliet Police Department is investigating a homicide. The killing took place around 2 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of The Credit Clique and Suites, 1308 West Jefferson Street.

Sunday's homicide involving gunfire marked the second straight night where someone was shot on Joliet's west side.
Early Saturday morning, a 28-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries during a shooting that happened on Joliet's west side on Hammes Avenue. No arrests have been made in that case, either.
Joliet's two other city homicides were the Feb. 15 drive-by shooting of four people who were walking in the 700 block of Francis Street on Joliet's east side. The 29-year-old homicide victim has been identified as Andrew Knox of Joliet.
Knox's body was found in the street, and he suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner's office said. All four shooting victims were men. Three of the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. No arrests have happened in the Knox slaying.
Joliet's second homicide of the year involved the use of a motor vehicle to run over Derek Walsh at a parking lot on Plainfield Road.
On March 21, Walsh, a pedestrian, was struck by an SUV just before 3:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Plainfield Road. Joliet police said a woman was arguing with Walsh after she struck his parked motorcycle. As he approached her SUV, she accelerated and drove into him, causing "extensive injuries," according to police.
A couple of days later, Joliet police announced that D'Kiva Jones faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery and leaving the scene of an accident.
