Josh Miner Says He Was 'Too Slow-Witted' To Be Charles Manson Murder Mastermind

The convicted double murderer said it's "outrageous" that he has been cast as a "Charles Manson type."

Josh Miner was blown away when he found out the press and prosecutors had portrayed him as the leader of a murderous group of drug-addled, sex-crazed young adults.

“They’re trying to say I was the mastermind of all this, I manipulated these people, I did this, I did that,” Miner recalled during a video interview with Patch at maximum security Menard Correctional Center.

“Like, how is that even possible?” Miner said. “Like, I didn’t even know none of them. The Bethany (McKee) b---- didn’t even like me. That Adam (Landerman) dude, I just met him two days prior to the incident. So how was I so like … Jedi mind trick their ass?”

Miner was found guilty of murdering 22-year-olds Terrance Rankins and Eric Glover. He is serving a life sentence at Menard. McKee, 20, is doing life at Logan Correctional Center. Landerman, 21, is still waiting to stand trial. Another young woman charged with the murders, 21-year-old Alisa Massaro, turned on her friends, copped a plea and got a five-year sentence in exchange for agreeing to testify against them.

“It’s just outrageous that they’re looking at me like I’m a Charles Manson type.”

This is the second in a series of videos made of Miner at Menard. Warning: Some of the videos include graphic descriptions of sexual situations and violence, and Miner occasionally uses obscenities. DO NOT WATCH THESE VIDEOS IF YOU THINK YOU WILL BE OFFENDED.

Besides his surprise at being cast as a Charles Manson figure holding sway over a “family” of killers, Miner said he was also shocked by the outrage the slayings sparked.

“It blows my mind that it’s such a big deal that these four white people killed these two black people,” he said. “If it’s the other way around, it would never even hit the news.”

Miner, now 26, said he was merely the oldest of the group charged with murdering Rankins and Glover, and that he did not orchestrate or order the killings.

“It’s just outrageous that they’re looking at me like I’m a Charles Manson type,” he said. “And how the f--- can I be that if I’m more slow-witted than half these mother-----s around here.”
