John Lawson's storage building next to his house in Joliet went up in flames last week, destroying his prized racing cars.

JOLIET, IL —On Feb. 3, a total of nine vehicles, including three racing cars, went up in flames at the Joliet east-side storage facility belonging to John Lawson, owner of John Lawson's Auto Rebuilders. The cause of the fire at 707 Algonquin St. still remains undetermined, Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey told Joliet Patch.

On an uplifting note, last week's devastation has spurred friends of Lawson to organize a T-shirt campaign to raise money to help out the Joliet businessman who is popular in the auto racing circuit. "Join us in supporting Lawson Family Racing after their devastating loss," the online campaign asks.
